Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Bottled by: Berry Bros & Rudd 70cl / 50.4%
A not-very-mysterious mystery Highland single malt whisky from a distillery in close proximity to Brora, this is a single hogshead cask of 'Sutherland' from the 2000 vintage bottled in 2021 as a 20-year-old which yielded 488 bottles at 50.4%.
This Northern Highland single malt is famous for its waxy character and this excellent single cask delivers that in spades. A terrific dram that rewards close attention and contemplation.

Tasting Notes
Nose: This enigmatic Highlander gives strong hints of its origin with powerful aromas of floral honey, antique furniture and fruit gums, suggesting the trademark waxiness of a certain famed distillery.
Palate: The palate is wonderfully viscous, with the texture integrating perfectly with notes of warm honey, tarte tatin, almonds and pleasing hints of beeswax.
Finish: The finish gives a passing note of wood smoke, before some spiciness and tobacco leaves appears toward the finish. An exquisite Highland whisky deserving of a quiet evening to enjoy its company.
Ronnie Cox Says
“This distillery can be found in Brora and its waxy texture is the stuff of legends. Expected heathery honey and beeswax on the nose gives way to the unexpected fresh white grape and more familiar Barbour jackets on the palate. Quite delicious this would be equally at home before dinner, at the opera or as a delightful post-dinner conversational dram.”
